The Faculty of Social Sciences is the largest faculty at the University of Kelaniya in terms of student enrollment. Established in the academic year 1981/82, its origins trace back to the foundational structure of Vidyalankara University, where the Faculty of Arts was divided into the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities. Due to their shared history, these two faculties maintain a strong collaborative relationship. The academic staff comprises a diverse blend of accomplished scholars and industry professionals, enriching the faculty's educational offerings.
